Charles F. “Bucky” Buckholt, 83, of Fallowfield Twp., passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018.  Born on June 14, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Pauline (Verkleeren) Buckholt.  

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Charleroi, and was retired from Corning Glass.  Bucky enjoyed wood working, crocheting, as he made his family several afghans, yard work, bird watching, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.  

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude A. “Trudy” (Erbe) Buckholt, whom he married after they both graduated from Charleroi High School in 1953; daughters, Cynthia L. Thurman, and husband Danny, of Friday Harbor, WA, and Christine A. Merashoff, and husband Fred, of Fallowfield, Twp.; grandchildren, Bryan Charles Cholak, Benjanin J. Cholak, Kaitlyn (Eddie) Merashoff, and Jason Merashoff; great-grandchildren, Charlie and James Cholak, and Daxton Cholak; brother, Paul A. Buckholt, and wife Helen, of West Alexander; sister, Jean Buckholt King, of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Liesel Reconnu, of Brownsville; and several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, James R. Buckholt; and sister-in-law, Carole Riva.  

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, in the funeral home, with interment following in Monongahela Cemetery.  

The family would like to give thanks to Concordia Hospice of Washington, especially Denise, Judy, Carl, Tyler, and Jason, for their wonderful care.
