Robert R. Marks, Sr. Obituary

Robert R. Marks, Sr, 86, of Speers Hill, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, April 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.  

Born on March 9, 1929, he was the son of the late Aloysius and Amelia Marks.  

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, and was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus, all in Charleroi.  He was a 1947 graduate of St. Justin's High School, in Pittsburgh, and was retired as a salesman with the H.J. Heinz Company and with Montgomery Ward, in Charleroi.  He loved hunting with his sons and grandsons, listening to music of his era, and spending time with his large family.  

Bob is survived by his children, Robert R. (Debi) Marks, Jr., of Lakeland, FL, Noreen (Joe) Salamone, of Upper St. Clair, Bill (Sandy) Marks, of Speers Hill, Kathleen (Bob) Cole, of Peters Twp., Patrick (Kim) Marks, of Green, OH, and Colleen (Chuck) Balsano, of Rostraver Twp.; grandchildren, Mandolin (Marty) Hoffman, Christina (Matt) Evans, Kristen (Erin Dawso) Salamone, Erin (Tim) Chiappetta, Justin (Deidra) Salamone, Carlyn (Chris) McCune, Bill Marks, Jr., Ty (Melissa Tedrow) Marks, Alyssa (Jarrod Pletcher) Marks, Bobby Cole, Patrick (Christina Hunter) Cole, Shannon Cole, Shawn and Courtney Marks, and Chaz and Maddie Balsano; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Caroline Evans, Sydney and Aubrey Hoffman, and Campbell Chiappetta; brother, Paul Marks; sister-in-law, Ruth Marks, and many nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley Marks; great-grandson, Aiden Michael; sister, Charlotte Krahe; and brothers, John, Bill, Albert, George, and Harry Marks.  

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, celebrated by Rev. James Young, with entombment following in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
