Orlando "Tito" Giorgi Obituary

Orlando "Tito" Giorgi, 96, of Charleroi, died on May 21, 2016.  Born on March 5, 1920, in Montecatini, Italy, he was the son of the late Alfredo and Giovanna Giorgi.  

He was a WWII veteran and he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He spent 3 years in the Air Corp, now called U.S. Air Force, where he flew on a C47 cargo plane that dropped paratroopers and gliders over Normandy, Holland, Germany, and Relief of Bastogne and Central Europe.  

He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church, and along with his wife, had previously owned Washington Importing Company, which is still in operation today.  In 1948, he and his brother opened Rego's Restaurant, in Charleroi, and in 1970 they moved it to the Wellington Hotel and changed the name to Rego's Hotel and Restaurant, a thriving business to this day.  

A community minded person, he was a board member of the Charleroi Chamber of Commerce, a member and Past President of the Charleroi Rotary Club, Treasurer of the Charleroi Parking Authority, and was a member of The Mon Valley Country Club, the Elks Lodge #494, and the VFW #167.  

Tito is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Nino and Tamara Giorgi, of Charleroi; grandsons, Justin (Robert) Lake, of Gilbert, AZ, Marc (JoMarie) Giorgi, of Washington, PA, and Aaron Giorgi, of Waynesburg; great-grandchildren, Maria and Anthony Giorgi; and several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Nesti Giorgi; daughter, Victoria Jean Baxter; sister, Inez Walters Gaskill; and brother, Rego Giorgi.  

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, the time of blessing service, on Tuesday, May 24, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Interment will be private.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mary, Mother of the Church, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
