Michael Joseph Brna, Sr., 91, of North Charleroi, died on October 26, 2016.  Born on June 8, 1925, in Roscoe, he was the son of the late Joseph and Teresa Brna.  

He was a member of the former S.S. Cyril & Methodius Church, of Charleroi, where he served on the task force and cluster 63.  He was currently a member of Mary, Mother of the Church, where he served as sacristan, lector, and on the pastoral council as chairman of the temporalities commission.  He was also a member of the Holy Name Society.  

During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations, where he attained the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class.  

He was employed be Corning Glass, where he retired as section foreman of the mold and machine shop after 50 years of service.  He was awarded the title of Management and Professional Associate.  He was a member of the Corning Retirees, Corning MMP Club, and former Corning chorus.  

He was also a member of American Legion Post 22, VFW Post 167, and the former Catholic War Vets Post 1796, all of Charleroi.  He was a member of the former Mon Valley Byzantine Chorus, a life member of the Slavic Citizens Club, of North Charleroi, and the Charleroi Sportsman's Club, where he was a past president.  He also served a number of years on the Charleroi Veteran's Council, participating on committees for a number of Veteran's day parades.  

He is survived by his 3 children, Alexis (Michael) Paydo, Michael (Janice) Brna, Jr., and Mark Brna; grandchildren, Valerie, Michael, Kristin, Stephen, and Michael; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Carter, Madeline, Brooke, Kyla, Ariana, and Maccabee; and brother, William Brna.  

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Ann Brna; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.  

Family and friends may attend a blessing service at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
