Margaret J. Bergstedt, 98, of Charleroi went to be with the Lord peacefully at home on Monday, October 24, 2022, with her loving and caring sons at her side. Born on December 30, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Luisa (Cavelli) Mastronicola.
She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and was a member of the Holy Name Society at the former Mother of Sorrows Church. She was involved in the preparation of many church dinners and other events and also volunteered as a member of the auxiliary at Mon Valley Hospital. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Russell E. Bergstedt, Jr, and wife Susan (Nipaver), of Phoenix, AZ, and Richard P. Bergstedt, and wife Rosemarie (Myers), of Charleroi; grandsons, Russell E. Bergstedt, III, and wife Kirstin, and their children, Kailey Rose, Annaliese and Cecilia, of Plano, TX, and Richard P. Bergstedt, Jr., of Beaufort, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Russell E. Bergstedt; brothers, Frank Caputo and Luke Mastronicola; and sisters, Faustina 'Fell' Skomsky, Nathalia 'Nell' Hurley, and Carmalene 'Carm' Osborne.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Friends will be received from 9:15 to 9:55 am on Friday, October 28 at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am and interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
