Maggie McAlister

Maggie McAlister, 69, of Charleroi passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born on October 26, 1956 she was the daughter of the late Philip and Margaret (Foster) Smith.

She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Charleroi Area School District and she was well known for being an excellent cook, baker, and Christmas candy maker. She was a member of the Charleroi Russian Club and she also took great joy in being the caretaker for her family's cemetery plots.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Bert McAlister; brother, Stuart (Chris) Smith; sisters, Sara (Larry) Phillips, Frances Bujanowski, Laverne (Gary) Cozakos, Debbie Steinmeyer, and Tina (Alan) Traweek; sister-in-law, Donna Smith; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and her cat, Midnight.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved daughter, Kaitlin McAlister, on February 4, 2026; brothers, Chesney and Brian Smith; and in-laws, Brian McAlister, Susie Dezarn, Linda McAlister, and Debbie Jobes.

Friends will be received from 12 noon to 2 pm, the time of services, on Saturday, March 21, 2026 in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME.
