Kenneth J. Wiltz, 79, of Charleroi passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Born on August 25, 1944 he was the son of the late Clarence and Geraldine (Jugghens) Wiltz.
He graduated from Charleroi Area High School and was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Military Police Officer in Vietnam. After his return from service, he attended Duquesne University, where he graduated with a degree in secondary education, social studies. He started his professional career at the Mon Valley YMCA by running youth programs before quickly ascending to the position of Executive Director, which he held for 37 years. Ken has been a director on the Charleroi School Board for the past 49 years and is the current board President. He was a long time youth coach for Charleroi baseball and basketball and was an avid fan of Charleroi football. He was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, the Charleroi Masonic Lodge, and the Mon Valley Country Club. He was on the Board of Directors for SPHS, Mon Valley YMCA, Intermediate Unit #1, Mon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Washington-Greene County Job Training Agency. He was also a member of the Charleroi Trustees, where he was recently honored with a plaque at the Charleroi Trustees Community Park Veterans Field. Ken shaped the lives of countless people through coaching, school and community service and he will be deeply missed.
Ken is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda (Black) Wiltz; daughter, Kendra (Mike) Hartley, of Charleroi; son, Ken Wiltz, of Charleroi; grandchildren, Aralyn and Ethan Hartley and Neva and Nolan Wiltz; brothers, Jerry (Clara) Wiltz, of Wheeling, WV and Bill (Joanne) Wiltz, of North Charleroi; sisters, Eileen Cadwallader, of Greensburg and Shirley Wiltz, of North Charleroi; sisters-in law, Maggi Wiltz, of Greensburg and Debra (Don) Willis, of Milwaukie, OR; brother-in-law, Kevin Black, of Charleroi; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by an infant son, Jonathan Wiltz; and brother, Ed Wiltz.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, August 17 and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, August 18 in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.
Funeral services will be at 11 am on Monday, August 19 at the CHARLEROI AREA HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM, 100 Fecsen Dr., Charleroi, PA 15022. Guests are asked to report directly to the school auditorium on Monday.
Interment with military honors will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
