Jerry Max Rose of Citrus Springs FL, formerly of Houston PA, died unexpectedly on Saturday July 11 in Dunnellon Florida when his car overturned while trying to avoid pedestrians in the road. He was born on June 28, 1944 in Canonsburg, PA, the son of the late Max Rose and Dorothy Piggott.
He graduated from Chartiers Houston High School in 1961, where he met the love of his life, his wife of 37 years Carol (Blyth) Rose. They them moved into the home in Houston PA where they would live form the next 30 years. Jerry was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Technical Institute and became a civil engineer for Oberchain Industries. He was then hired on with DECI Corporation as a civil structural engineer and department head, overseeing blueprints and designs for building construction all over southwestern Pennsylvania and nationally. During this time Jerry and Carol gave birth to their only child, a daughter Tiffany, who was the light of their lives. As any great dad, he jumped headfirst into this new role, becoming the dance studio DJ for Tiffany, shuttling dancers to and from competitions, and assisting with numerous school plays, performances, and sporting events. Jerry retired in 2006 to care for his wife Carol full-time due to a lengthy battle with breast cancer. When Carol died in 2007, Jerry moved from Pennsylvania to Florida to be closer to his family and new grandchildren.
A resident of Citrus Springs, Jerry's routine was clockwork to those who knew him. He was a regular fixture at local restaurants such as Front Porch and Pizza Hut. He enjoyed riding his bike, building model trains, driving his beloved convertible, and spending time with his daughter Tiffany Rose Mitchell and his young grandchildren Sastia and Blyth.
Preceeding him in death were his beloved wife Carol (Blyth) Rose, his sister Rowena "Dee-Dee" (Rose) Wassam, and his parents Max Rose and Dorothy (Piggott) Rose.
Sadly missed by his daughter and son in law Tiffany and Larry Mitchell of Citrus Springs, granddaughter Sastia Carol-Vella Mitchell, and grandson Blyth Bradley Mitchell, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
