Janet (Karpiak) Calcara, 79, of Fallowfield Township, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on January 12, 2025.
Born in McKeesport on February 21, 1945, she was the beloved wife of Carl A. Calcara; aunt of Robin (Robert) Hixenbaugh and Shannon Harteis; and sister-in-law to Sherry Karpiak. Also cherishing her memory are her 8 great and great- great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Susan (Soltis) Karpiak; and her brother, Nicholas R. Karpiak.
Janet was a 1963 graduate of Charleroi Area High School and was formerly employed by the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation in Pittsburgh. Beginning in 1983, she served as secretary for Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Charleroi where she was a lifetime member. She also enjoyed coordinating of the parish's Sunday afternoon grocery bingo from 1980 to 2012.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 6 pm on Thursday, January 16 in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Friday, January 17 in the funeral home with interment following in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
