Hubert M. Braunegg, 90, of Charleroi, died on Thursday, December 4, 2014.  Born on October 31, 1924, he was the son of the late Richard and Catherine Braunegg.  

He was a 1942 graduate of Charleroi High School and then enlisted in the Navy for 3 years, where he was stationed in Annapolis.  After his honorable discharge, he went on to Penn State, where he would graduate in Mechanical Engineering in 1948.  He then became a registered professional engineer and worked at Universal Atlas Cement, Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Corning Glass, and Minnotte Corp. until retirement.  He was a co-leader for Boy Scouts for 15 years, and helped at the Charleroi Food Pantry and St. Vincent DePaul.  

On August 4, 1951, he married Susan Litavec, who survives.  He is also survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Rita Braunegg, William and Suzanne Braunegg, and David and Patty Braunegg; daughters and sons-in law, Janice and Steve Brandeburg and Sharon and Mark Barbrow; grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Brandeburg, Kelly, Justin, Eric, Lauren, Anneliese, and David Braunegg, and Seth and Caleb Barbrow; great-grandson, Axexander Brandeburg; and nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by brothers, Richard, Paul, Carl, and George Braunegg; and sister, Gertrude Tinney.  

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 7 and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, in Mary, Mother of the Church, celebrated by Rev. Edward Litavec, with interment following in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
