Helen Marie Ferrara, 94, of Charleroi, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Washington County Health Center. Born in Charleroi on July 17, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Marie Blaho Culbertson.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Charleroi, former member of John K. Tener Friends of the Library, Charthene Club, and Athena Club. She was also a USO vulunteer during World War II, and traveled to almost every state in the country raising awareness and money for the war bond effort. She retired as a secretary for the Washington County Tax Assessment Office.
She is survived by her son, Gary Greco, and wife Susan, of Fallowfield Twp.; granddaughters, Cheryl (Sean) Destefon, of South Park, and Lauren (John) Kifer, of Monongahela; great-grandchildren, Ava and Ben Destefon, and Sam and Lila Kifer; niece, Barbara (Joe) Fazzini; and cousins, Edwin and Lois Culbertson.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Albert Ferrara; brother, Walter Culbertson; and nephew Ken Culbertson.
A private memorial service will be held for the family.
