Betty V. Matela, 77, of Charleroi, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.  Born on June 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Margaret Magruda.  

She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church, and was a member of Quota International where she attended conventions in San Francisco and 7 Springs.  She was retired as the Secretary to William Farner, the President of Mellon Bank, in Charleroi, where she worked for 36 years.  

Betty is survived by her close friends, Mary and John Rosick, and their family, of Charleroi; Godson, Rick Rosick, of Pittsburgh; sisters-in-law, Ann (Howard) Snyder, of Vacaville, CA, and Margaret (Fred) Teillon, of Liverpool, NY; cousin, Anita Dzatko, of Wexford; several other special cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Charles Matela, in 2012; and brother, Robert Magruda, in 2004.  

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February, 19, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, Funeral Director.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, with interment following in Monongahela Cemetery.
