Barbara Ann Cardinale, 85, of North Charleroi, died on Sunday, November 27, 2016.  Born on April 7, 1931, in North Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Willard "Wee" Sowden and Dorothy (Bohlander) Sowden.  

Mrs. Cardinale retired from Mon Valley Community Federal Credit Union in 1990, after 35 years of service.  She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Christian Mothers.  She was a great story teller, having possessed a vibrant sense of humor, unmatched wit, and a plethora of wisdom.  Gram Cardinale loved her family, her children, and grandchildren adored her.   A talented tap dancer, she was a great entertainer in more ways than one.  She loved to cook for her family – extended and immediate alike.  She will be sorely missed by many.  

She is survived by her daughters, Adele (Richard) Pireaux, of Fallowfield Township, Patricia (Norman) Baker, of Fallowfield Township, and Christine (Mark Kovalchuk) Cardinale, of North Charleroi; grandchildren, Richard (Kristi) Pireaux, Maria (Daniel) Baker Degnan, Kathryn (Joseph) Pireaux Lopez, Armanda (Jesse) Baker McGrew, Natalie Baker, Joseph Papadakos, and Brady Kovalchuk; great-grandchildren, Eva Matinko, Dominic Pireaux, Anthony Matinko, Lena Pireaux, and Thomas Degnan; brother, John "Jack" Sowden, of Monongahela; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-Law, Ann and Richard Hansen, and Robert and Barbara Cardinale; cousins, Sandra and Raymond Conrad, and Jerry Bohlander;  and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, S. Joseph Cardinale; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dwayne Charles; sister-in-law, Betty Sowden; nephew, John Thomas Sowden; and niece, Lee Ann Charles Flament.  

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, with interment following in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to www.spallinofuneralhome.com.
