Angela Tilley Obituary

With great anticipation, Angela (Sem) Tilley, 95, entered the kingdom of God on January 29, 2018.  She was a patient in Mon Valley Hospital at the time of her passing.  She was born on January 15, 1923, in Charleroi, where she was raised and lived most of her life.  Ang was the daughter of immigrant Italian parents, Giacomo and Enrica Sem.  She was one of six children and was Roman Catholic by faith.  She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Tilley, of Cannonsburg, and Mark (Marianne) Tilley, of Eighty Four; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Bagay Tilley, of Maryland.  She was a proud, loving grandmother to 5 grandchildren, Ben, Beth, Matthew, Mark, and Luc and was blessed with 8 great-grandchildren.  Ang is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever cherish and remember her funny antics, positive disposition, her smile and laugh, and her delicious meals, especially her potato salad and apple pie.  She will be remembered for always sending cards to family members to commemorate special occasions.  In her early life, she was employed at Corning Works, in Charleroi.  She became a homemaker after she married.  She was a good cook and always had food on the table when family or friends came to visit.  She became the caregiver to her father Giacomo, until his death at age 97.  Ang had a gift on being able to make friends very easily.  Whether it be shopping in town, waiting for an appointment, or riding the community bus, she would strike up a conversation and make a new friend.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Benjamin, in 1962; eldest son, Ben, in 2000; brothers, Aldo and Chester Sem; sisters; Beatrice Vitale, Margaret Costanza, Della Riva, and Helen Izzo; and sister-in-law, Jeanine Sem.  Ang often joked that they were all probably calling her to join them and wondering what was taking her so long.  Additional predeceased family members are brothers-in-law, Ed, John, and Robert Tilley; sisters-in-law Margaret, Elizabeth, Stella, and Agnes; and several nieces and nephews.  Angela Tilley can be said to have had a strong and generous spirit as she overcame many difficulties throughout her life but never let them get the best of her or break her spirit.   Services are private.
