Dolores “Doe” Mascara, 86, of Charleroi, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.  Born on October 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helene (Biscoe) Mendola.

She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church and had worked at The Charleroi Mail after high school.  She was an alumna of California State College, where she graduated first in her class, and was an avid reader.  She also enjoyed piloting airplanes and she traveled the world with her husband.  Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family.

Doe is survived by her son, Jon Mascara, and wife Jill, of Belle Vernon; daughter-in-law, Lisa (T.J. Gentile) Mascara, of Cannonsburg; grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Mascara, Kylie (Arun) Gupta, and their son, Ari, and Mariah, Jameson, and Sam Mascara; sister, Bonnie Rizzuto, of California State; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, U.S. Congressman Frank R. Mascara, in 2011; son, Judge Mark E. Mascara, in 2010; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Jean Mendola; sister, Shirley Valla; and brother-in law, Ed Rizzuto.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, July 21, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Monday in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, followed by entombment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Our sincere condolences on the passing of "Do". My wife Diane Hajduk O'Connor was Do's first cousin.
Diane's mom was Christine Mendola. Diane died in July 2011, one week before Frank passed. Do was one of a kind. May she rest in Peace. Stephen O'Connor

Jon & family, Heaven gained such a beautiful angel. Your mom was a sweet caring mom who always welcomed us with a smile no matter where she was... In church, on the street, or serving us youngsters lunch at St. Jerome Catholic School cafeteria. May you find strength, love and peace in the days to come. May your mom's memory be eternal. Love and prayers, Dana Romito Galis, Derwood, Maryland
