Richard L. Burgess, Sr., 54, of Fallowfield Twp., passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018.  Born on January 3, 1964, he was the son of Helen Burgess, who survives, and the late John Clyde Burgess.

He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for spending time in nature with his sons, wife, and brothers-in-law. He loved playing cards and fishing with his family and friends and was known as the “King of Lakes” in Western PA.  When teaching somebody to fish, Richard would say “I taught you everything you know, but I didn't teach you everything I know”. He was a devoted husband and father of a blended family of 5, and became a grandfather last May. He cherished every minute with his special biggy boy, Ross. He was an avid bingo player and enjoyed The Meadows and his vacations to Vegas. Richard was a dedicated employee to the North Charleroi Borough and took pride in his snow removal and was even featured on WTAE channel 4 news for having the cleanest streets.  He also belonged to the Teamsters Union Local # 585, Charleroi Area Sportsman's Club, the East Park Fishing Club, and was an avid PITT fan as his nephew Brian plays for the team.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Carol Fowkes Burgess; son, Richard Burgess Jr. and wife Nycole, and grandson Ross; son, Mathew Burgess and girlfriend Nikki Frederick; son, Anthony Amprim and wife Caitlin; son Adam Amprim and wife Valerie; daughter Anna Amprim; sister Lori Burgess; sister Roxanne Burgess, and nephews Brian and Eric; sister Cathy Weaver and husband Chuck; and Carol’s brothers and sisters, Bill, Tom, Larry, Linda, Gerry, and families.

In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Lil Fowkes.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 28 in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, at Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, with interment following in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
