Paul McManus Obituary

Paul Arlie McManus, 78, of Charleroi, passed away on January 16th, 2019, after a valiant fight with lung disease. The community will truly miss this happy-go-lucky shining star; he was one in a million! Born on December 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma (Rusnack) McManus.

He attended mass with his family at Mary, Mother of the Church and was a 1959 graduate of Connellsville High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Vietnam, in the infantry then as a payroll truck driver. He was retired from retail management, having worked for G.C. Murphy and Big Lots. With over 50 years of Masonic service, he was a member of the Syria Shrine Temple, Gourgas Lodge of Perfection, Charleroi Lodge #615, and Uniontown Lodge of Perfection. He served as a board member for the Charleroi Golden Agers, and was a member of the Charleroi American Legion Post 22, the North Charleroi Slavic Club, and the Charleroi Elks and its Golf Team. Some of Paul's achievements include being an Eagle Scout, a member of Toastmasters, President of Downtown McKeesport Assn., Chairman of McKeesport Heart Assn. Drive, Chairman of Boy Scout Fund Drive, President of Clairton Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Committee of the United Way of Allegheny County. He also had great interest in football, baseball, swimming, golf, and scouting.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rose Marie McManus; son, Kevin M. (Stephanie Ruby) McManus, of Swissvale; daughter, Marci (Todd) Klinger, of Charleroi, beautiful grandchildren, Dylan Joseph and Leah Rose Klinger; sisters-in-law, Janet McManus, of Connellsville, and Arlene Perri, of Michigan; nephews and niece, Joseph R. McManus, of Carroll Twp., David (Patty) McManus, of Florida, Steve Perri, of Michigan, and Donna (Pat) Witt, of Michigan; great-nieces and nephews, whom he adored; and his dachshund, Rocky.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Joseph McManus.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, January 18th in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 11 am in Mary, Mother of the Church, with interment following in Monongahela Cemetery.

Paul A. McManus loved his family, friends, Jesus Christ and The United States of America.
