Joe E. Gorecki,, 91, of Charleroi, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Born on July 8, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Kurty) Gorecki.
He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Korean War from 1948 -1952 in Sasebo, Kobe, and Tokyo. He was a retired Industrial Arts and History teacher for the Charleroi School District and was also an insurance agent for Franklin Life. He was a member of the Mon Valley Country Club for over 40 years and was an avid golfer with several trophies and 4 holes-in-one to his credit. He also enjoyed dancing, spending time with family, and traveling as he spent the last 30 years in Ft. Lauderdale in the winter months.
Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen (Didik) Gorecki; daughter, Linda Jo (Augie) DiPasquale, of Glenshaw; sons, Joe T. (Judy) Gorecki, of Charleroi, and Doug Gorecki, of Dunlevy; brother, Elmer (Irene) Gorecki, of California; grandchildren, Angela (Joe) Laslavic, Dennis (Catlyn) DiPasquale, Rebecca (Ethan) Solak, and Amanda Gorecki; great-grandchildren, Gia and Dante Laslavic, and twins, Vita and Rocco DiPasquale; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Mary Zurosky; and brother, Sam Gorecki.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, November 15 in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Saturday in Mary, Mother of the Church, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mary, Mother of the Church.
