Betty A. Gobert Buchta, age 91, of Fallowfield Twp., died on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, in the Victoria House, Monessen. Born on April 26, 1920, in Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Susan (Fero) Gobert.
"Mimi", as she was known to her grandchildren, was a life long member of Mary, Mother of the Church in Charleroi, and was a dedicated homemaker who loved to care for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Charleroi High School class of 1938, and she was an active committee person for her most recent class reunion. She was a founding member of her Thursday evening bridge club, which began in 1942 and lasted for over 50 years. Betty was also known to have a beautiful singing voice, and she performed with the local chapter of the Sweet Adelines.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Martin, and husband Larry, of Monongahela; granddaughters, Gina Votovich, and husband CPT John, of Woodbridge, VA, Stephani Horey, and husband George, of West Homestead, Amy Sands, and husband Charles, of Fallowfield Twp., and Susan Martin, of Monongahela; great-grandchildren, Catherine and Alexandria Votovich, Paige Sands, and George Horey; and nephews, Philip Garrow, of California, and Michael Garrow, and wife Veretta, of Charleroi.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Leonard J. Buchta, in 1981; daughter, Susan Buchta, in 1999; sisters, Norma Garrow and Gail Gobert; and an infant brother, Homer Gobert.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 10 AM, in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, with Rev. Gerald Mikonis, Pastor, celebrating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
